I first loved the rug hooking art form through the art work of my Great Aunt Margaret Hannant. She loved hooking rugs for our large family using images of her houses, our farm, and roosters: things that inspired her.

For the past five years, I have been using the same medium of rug hooking to express my artistic interests and the thoughts and images that inspire me. Recently, I have been experimenting using my Science teaching background to inform my work as a fabric artist.

In 2018, I paired with the Royal Society of Astronomy to hang my South Pole project in the Propeller Gallery in Toronto, entitled “Out of this world”. The South Pole Project took me a year (2017) to complete and is the first of several Science/Art projects.

A full account of this project is in the March/April 2019 edition of R.U.G. Hooking magazine.

I live in Toronto, Canada with my husband Frank, an artist, our rotund cat Abby, and our collie, Joe, who is just happy to be beautiful. My wonderful daughters, Anna and Sarah, are also artists.

I also enjoy making whimsical pieces to bring colour and pleasure to people within this traditionally female art form.
